Shea Middleton joined the Office for Inclusion and Civil Rights (formerly the Office of Institutional Equity) in June 2026 as a Civil Rights Investigator. His primary responsibilities involve responding to employee conduct related to the University’s non-discrimination policies, including investigating complaints of alleged discrimination, harassment, and retaliation involving University employees, as well as employees at regional campuses and UConn Health. Shea is a member of the Association of Workplace Investigators.
Prior to joining the OICR Investigations Team, Shea served as the Associate Director of the Office of Community Standards at UConn. In this role, he investigated alleged violations of The Student Code, including complaints of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation involving students, and supervised a team of investigating case managers.
Shea earned a Bachelor of Science from UConn and a Master of Education from Springfield College. He is currently enrolled as an evening student at UConn School of Law. Additionally, Shea has completed 40 hours of professional mediation skills training at the Center on Dispute Resolution at Quinnipiac University School of Law.
