Jamila H. Goolgar joined the Office of Institutional Equity (OIE) in June 2017 as an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Investigator. Jamila is the Senior EEO Investigator in OIE and has 19 years combined experience as a Paralegal and EEO professional. Her primary responsibilities include conducting investigations into complaints of discrimination, harassment and retaliation involving University employees, including employees of UConn Health and regional campuses, and preparing written decisions and recommendations based on her factual findings. She also provides training to members of the University community on policies and procedures related to preventing and responding to reports of discrimination, harassment and retaliation. Since joining the University, Jamila has collaborated on working groups focused on diversity, equity and inclusion, including initiatives relating to prevention and response to discrimination and harassment in clinical settings. Jamila is a member of the Association of Workplace Investigators and the Connecticut Association for Diversity and Equity Professionals.
Prior to joining the OIE Investigations Team, Jamila worked as an EEO Specialist for the Department of Administrative Services on Affirmative Action (AA) and EEO related matters including, investigating employee claims of discrimination, harassment and retaliation and writing annual AA plans for multiple state agencies. Jamila also conducted trainings on Diversity, Sexual Harassment Prevention, and Implicit Bias for hiring managers, supervisors, and agency employees.
Jamila has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice from Bay Path University. In addition, Jamila has completed 40 hours of Mediation Training and 108 educational contact hours in Multicultural Theory and Cultural Competency Training.
